Top Game/Saturday WOD

Friday night went to Chris Mahan’s Top Game BJJ Academy and trained the MMA/BJJ fighters. We had them do Fight Gone Bad:

In this workout you move from each of five stations after a minute. This is a five-minute round from which a one-minute break is allowed before repeating. The stations are:

1.Dumbbell Thrusters, 30lbs (Reps)
2.Deadlift High-Pull 75lbs (Reps)
3.Box Jump 20″ box (Reps)
4.Push-press 75lbs (Reps)
5.Burpees (Reps)

The clock does not reset or stop between exercises. On call of “rotate,” the athlete/s must move to next station immediately for good score. One point is given for each rep.

We were excited to train these dedicated and strong athletes. The boss even jumped in and tried his hand at Fight Gone Bad. Hopefully we will be able to train them again on another Friday. We will be holding CrossFit work outs at Top Game on Mondays and Wednesdays at 5:30. Please e-mail info@mydemosite.org if you are interested.

Once again we rolled the tires to the curb, hoisted them aloft, secured them to the roof of the Jeep Cherokee and headed to Byrd Park. We’ve heard, from reliable sources, that last time we took the tires to Byrd they were talking about us at Starbucks.

It was Brandon, Jake, Kat, and me. Honestly, despite the weak turn-out, I had the most fun I’ve had on a Saturday. The continuous reps while dragging the tire became a game of who could take it the longest. By the end we were, including Kat, screaming for the person on the tire to speed up, breaking our cries with intermittent but genuine laughter. We all felt the genuine CrossFit camaraderie.

If you missed this Saturday you should come out to the next one. We’re having fun and if we like ya, we might even start screaming at you to hurry up. Who knows, maybe you’ll end up the topic of conversation over steaming, foamed lattes.
