When was your last PR?

You haven’t PR’d your Snatch in many months (or maybe years). You see them a few times a month in a group fitness class or maybe you randomly tackle them on your own. Each time you do, it feels like you’re back to square one.

You can’t have it all, and so much of training is about priorities. You’ll get better where you spend you time and effort, and if you intentionally direct your efforts in many directions at once, you’re also acknowledging you’re limiting the progress you’ll make in any one area. After many many years of programming for CrossFit, and later our Performance and Fit programs, we get it. There’s many upsides upsides from a very broad general fitness program, but some inherent limitations as well.

RVA Barbell provides you the opportunity to focus your efforts. Whether you’ve been training with an eye on general fitness in a group class setting for years, OR are new to training and know you want to dig into weightlifting, we’ve got you covered.

With each training session focused on just a handful of lifts, and repeating this lifts over and over, you’ll be hard pressed to NOT make progress. So many of our athletes are former CrossFitters or coming from of one of our other training programs. Many think their days of big PRs are behind them, only to find a renewed interest in training and years of progress ahead of them.

This cycle of Barbell Basics will be on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 6am, and runs for 8 weeks. In a small group, you’ll be taught by an experienced coach the basics of Olympic weightlifting. You’ll come out the other side of this 8 week program with newfound skills and knowledge, and ready to make even more progress in the future.

You don’t need any experience to join Barbell Basics! Whether it’s your first time touching a bar, or you’ve been training on your own or in a group fitness environment for years, we’ll get you making progress.
