Testing, testing…

JakeEndurance

It’s time to test  with Crossfit Endurance!

Over the next two weeks  both the Tuesday 6am class and the Thursday 5:30pm class will be swapping standard distance tests.

Tuesday morning will start with a 1 mile time trial run, then we’ll be doing a 500m row followed by a short wod.

Thursday afternoon will start with a 2K row followed by a 400m run and a short wod.

These tests will be repeated next week  with the 2K row and 400m run for Tuesday 6am, and the mile run , 500m row  for the Thursday 5:30pm class. This should give everyone a chance to get their numbers.

This will be our first time truly testing these distances to use as a benchmark . Anyone who’s been around crossfit for a while knows we test, retest then test again, and I couldn’t think of a better time to start this than alongside the PNC challenge.

Eating right is only half the challenge. You don’t want to lose points by missing a workout. Running or rowing is a great way to break up your workout schedule and maybe shave some seconds off your Helen time when you retest at the end of the challenge.

Check the RVA Endurance Facebook page on Monday and Wednesday night for the next days wod . You can also subscribe for updates on Twitter

In other news, registration for The Instant Classic Marathon and Half Trail Race is open. A few of us ran the half last year and it’s a great race to train for. It takes place on the fire roads through Pocahontas State Park. We’ve got a possible 3 confirmed to sign up.  12 weeks prior to the race I will start posting additional workouts to get people prepared for it.

There’s still time to register for the Rare 5 Miler in Fredericksburg. The race is Sunday Oct. 13th. Rare is a Crossfit Affiliate with a large endurance program. The 5 mile trail run has a crossfit station at every mile offering different challenges like thrusters, KB swings and burpees. I have no idea what to expect, but I’m looking forward to representing for RVA. If you’re interested:

Lastly, if you’re wondering if Crossfit Endurance gets results. Two of us ran the Maymont 8 Mile Trail Race this past weekend and we both PR’d by 5 minutes over our time last year.  If you’re looking to be faster or just improve your cardio, come check out a class.
