Post Race Post

Another race season is coming to an end and first and foremost I want to congratulate all the runners who took part in one of the races last Saturday. I know of at least six runners from our box who tested themselves on the 16th and I’m sure there are a few I don’t know about.

Tere ran her first full Marathon beating Pamela Andersons NY Marathon time proving she’s not only a better runner, but has better taste in drummer husbands.

Erin and Audrey both set over 20 minute PR’s for their Half Marathon time and Jill P ran her Half in well under 2 hours.

Eileen G ran the 8K and seems very ready for her  upcoming Turkey Trot next week.

I also had a fun Marathon, finishing in 4:15.

All the runners worked hard both on their own and in the Endurance class, and I couldn’t be more proud. The program will work if you give it a try.

Just as important as the runners are all the people who came out and showed their support. Stephen Pratt was out there taking great pictures near the finish line. His significant other Brie, and his father John also ran the Marathon, Bries second with a PR and Johns first. Brie and John often run with the RVA Endurance Rebels, so a special shout out to them. Bries brother Tim Dubinsky another member of our box was also out there cheering us on.

Kat, Stacey and Derek cheered on the rebels for both races and were a welcome sight on the course. Jar was out there keeping the peace. I also saw Mark Miller and heard there was a Gregg K and Liz S sighting as well.

If there’s anyone I missed please post to the RVA Endurance page for our thanks.  You all inspire us to look good when we pass you.

Even though most of the races are done, it doesn’t mean RVA Endurance is slowing down. While I’m personally looking forward to giving more attention to strength training over the next few months, we will continue to offer  Endurance programming as well as running and rowing specific drills and techniques throughout the off season.

Before we know it a new racing season will be here. For some we will set up race specific training programs, like the Monument Avenue 10K on March 29th and the Instant Classic Trail Half or Full Marathon on March 15th. We may also set up a training program for the popular Rare Crossfit 10K. Those aren’t the only upcoming races though. There’s the Frostbite 15K on Jan 22nd and the Love Rox 10K and Half Marathon on Feb 23rd which is tied to the Virginia Wine Expo.

We’ll also announce details soon for our 2nd annual Tacky Lights Run in mid-December. We ran the 5.5 mile course twice last year. There’s no entry fee and family, friends and pets are welcome.  As long as they can run the course. If you’re not a runner, don’t let the distance scare you. We make plenty of stops along the way for pictures, so you’ll get a rest. This year we may try to head somewhere after for drinks and food.

Crossfit RVA Endurance classes are Tuesday at 6am and Thursday at 5:30pm. Wods are posted the day before on Facebook. Like our page RVA Endurance for updates, or subscribe to us on Twitter @rvaendurance
