PNC V: Team Edition Redux

JakeArticles, Events

In just over a week, we’ll be starting the Performance Nutrition Challenge V. Again, we’re going to make things a little more interesting; you’ll all do this in two person teams!

Our next Performance Nutrition Challenge will begin September 17th (testing week), with the good eating starting that week as well. It will run for 8 weeks, and will be a challenge in the true sense of the word.

Cost

Cost will be $100. Cost includes two tests on the BodPod, which typically run ~$50 a test. We’ll also be doing a kick-off at Pasture on Sunday, 9/16 from 4-6pm, where you’ll enjoy some PNC-friendly snacks, have an opportunity to ask questions, talk through the rules/standards, and participate in a food prep/planning/cooking seminar courtesy of fED.

Scoring

Body composition percentage improvement, workout score percentage improvement, and compliance will all be used to calculate your final score. Body composition change will be weighted most heavily, followed by workout improvement, and finally, compliance.

We want you to know fully how dedicated, substantial changes to the way you eat can affect your performance and well-being. We’re setting up some specific criteria with the hopes that you will leave the Challenge faster, leaner, and with a better understanding of how food impacts your performance and health.

Method

No Grains
No Sugar (including artificial sweeteners)
No Dairy
No Legumes

I know the above criteria create many additional questions. These will all be addressed in the Challenge handout/kickoff.

All teams will consist of 2 members. You’ll have the option to form your own teams, but it’s completely OK so sign-up individually. We’ll assign teams for those folks.

Each team will record their training compliance in a google docs spreadsheet. Everyone will be shared on their spreadsheet before the Challenge officially starts. Each team can earn 2pts per day (1pt each for eating and training compliance). Cheating and or not training results in not earning a point for that particular day. We will check the spreadsheets periodically to make sure everyone is recording their points. We’ll provide specific criteria at the kickoff for what qualifies as training for points purposes.

All initial body fat testing will be done from 4-8pm on 9/17 and 7-10am on 9/18. Retests will be done 4-8pm on 11/12 and 7-10am on 11/13. You’ll select your initial testing appointment when registering. Your retest will be scheduled after the Challenge has started. Make sure you’re available during the test/retest times before signing up, as there will be no refunds/rescheduling.

-The initial test workout will be next Thursday September 13th. We will be doing Cindy. No sandbagging to make your retests look better. We’ll be pushing you hard on this one!

-The 8 weeks of awesome eating will be from 9/17-11/11.

-The retest of the benchmark workout will be 11/15.

Registration

Register here. You’ll be paying/registering for the PNC by registering for your BodPod appointment. You can sign in using your existing Zen Planner account, or create a new one if necessary. Email jake@rvaperformancetraining.com immediately if there’s any issues. We’ll have limited slots for this Challenge! If you get lost, head to Make Appoint, and scroll over to 9/17 and 9/18 and click on your desired time slot to get started.

Prizes

First, both Colonial CrossFit and CrossFit RVA will be participating in the PNC V. We’ll select an overall 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place team based off the scoring method above. This Challenge is more costly, but also is seriously improving what you get, as the testing alone is top notch and costly. That being said…

1st place team members will each get a free month’s membership, and $100. 2nd place will get $100 each. 3rd place will get $50 each. 1st, 2nd, and 3rd will get a sweet RVA or CCF shirt.
