The Return of Crossfit RVA Endurance Or How the Rebels Joined the Empire

JakeEndurance

If you normally attend 5:30 classes you may have noticed a small group of crazy people doing crazy things like rowing 30+ minutes, running mile repeats or doing insane amounts of burpees.

You may have seen us hopping on the balls of our feet behind the box or doing drills with a metronome. If you’ve ever wondered what it was about , now’s your chance to find out.

Starting in September Crossfit RVA will offer two Endurance classes a week. The Endurance classes will run concurrently with regular RVA classes on Tuesday mornings at 6am and Thursday evenings at 5:30. Each will have its own programming for anyone wanting to do both.

Endurance classes will follow the same structure you’re already used to as a member of Crossfit RVA. Sign in, warm up/mobility, drill and wod. Occasionally the warm ups and drill work will be one and the same. Endurance wods will primarily focus on running and rowing with the emphasis on technique then intensity then volume. Core work and high intensity skill and low weight movements such as double unders, burpees, wall balls and KB swings can also be expected.

If you’ve wanted to add more cardio to your workout routine or drop a weight class or learn pacing so you don’t see spots after rowing a 2K or running a mile, then we may be just what you need. We’ll try to find upcoming races and work towards them as a training goal. We’ll add supplemental “homework” when needed to meet those goals in the form of intervals and time trials.

Most importantly we’ll try to have fun doing it. The endurance group has been around over a year and we’ve become a pretty tight community and we want to maintain that.

The Crossfit RVA Endurance Facebook page is where you can find upcoming wods, videos, race notices and drunken ramblings. “Like” the page and introduce yourself to the group at:

We know crossfitters hate running, but if you do it right, it can be a lot of fun. We hope you join us.
