CrossFit vets and noobs alike can learn something here.

CrossFit thrives on community. Look no further than the random assortment of people that you’ll find at the gym during any given class. We have doctors, lawyers, students, businessmen, scientists, and everything in between all in one place together. We love it that way and you should too. Take advantage of the wealth of potential friends that you could have and meet someone new at the gym. If there is a person in your class that you don’t recognize or don’t know, say “hello”. You should know the names of the people that are slogging through a workout with you so that you can cheer each other on.

I’m sure we can all remember an event when we went somewhere new and didn’t know anyone. Think first day at a new school in a new city in a new state or maybe your first day at CrossFit. The other night my new Elements class caught a glimpse of the CrossFit Total and there was some shouting and screaming during the lifts (all things approved) and I thought the eyeballs of some of my Elements folks were going to pop out of their heads. Some of you came over and apologized and said hello after lifting (thank you!). You know how intimidating it is to be exposed to CrossFit. It costs you nothing to introduce yourself to a new face.

Stay friendly, RVA.
