Informal Team Throwdown in Charlottesville. Are people interested? Mark M wants to captain a team, post to the comments below if you want to do it! If there is enough interest, we can send multiple teams, but don’t wait too long as entries are extremely limited.
There are a couple of events coming up at CFRVA and I’m going to start with the Olympic weightlifting meet on October 23rd. Jake did a nice write-up about what it takes to compete and the takeaway message is that you don’t need anything except a desire to test your skill. Jake put it succinctly when he said that the competition is between you and the barbell. As a competitor in past events, I can say that is definitely true. Across weight classes, people are psyched when they see you hit a lift regardless if it is lighter or heavier than what they are capable of. They all understand the work it takes to put that barbell over head. If you want to compete and train up for the event, you can do the advanced programming on lift days. Athletes of all skill levels are welcome! We hope to see plenty of our guys AND girls out there. If you have any questions, post to the comments below or in the write-up Jake did, I’ll be monitoring both.
